How long do the effects of Therapacks last?

Effects vary according to the ambient temperature, but 20 minutes of heat or cold is normal.

How often can you re-use Therapacks?

The short answer is that we don’t know! Therapacks can be used over and over again. If looked after and not overheated or allowed to get damp, they should keep going for years. With all similar natural products containing grains or seeds it is recommended they be replaced every 5 – 8 years depending on frequency of use.

How long do Therapacks take to prepare?

Times vary according to the pack; larger packs require more time. It is important that you follow the instructions on each pack. Preparation times range as per the attachment in the attached link.

How do I clean my pack?

Hand wash in warm soapy water, then rinse well. To dry, immediately place the pack in an oven heated to 50 degrees Celsius for around 15 – 20 minutes. Packs can also be dried in tumble driers which have a drying shelf to keep pack from tumbling. On a warm sunny day the packs could be hung on a washing line. Packs must not be allowed to remain wet or damp or the contents will go mouldy.

What are lupins?

Lupins are members of a diverse plant genus (lupinus) grown in Australia and other locations. They are valued both for their beautiful flowers and as a versatile food source. They are ecologically important because they fix nitrogen from the atmosphere, fertilising the soil for other plants, and are tolerant of infertile soils. Therapacks use locally grown lupin seeds.

What are the advantages of lupin seeds?

Lupin seeds have low moisture content, so they are less prone to mould. They are hard and therefore pest-resistant. They are also odourless, less inclined to disintegrate and retain heat better than rice or wheat.

When should I not use Therapacks?

Packs should not be used on open wounds or in cases of deep vein thrombosis, peripheral vascular disease, neuropathy or impairment in skin sensation. Use only cold packs for acute inflammation.
